Seeb edge Dhofar, Al Rustaq stun Al Nahda in OFA Cup

MUSCAT : Seeb edged Dhofar 2-1 in the second round of Group A matches of the Oman Football Association Cup. The match, held at the Al Saadah Sports Complex on Saturday, showcased Seeb dominance under the guidance of Brazilian coach Jorvan Vieira.


Seeb's victory was sealed with goals from Yazeed al Maashani and Marwan Taieb, while Abdullah al Musharfi netted Dhofar's lone goal.


In the same group, Oman Club secured a 1-0 victory against Al Nasr, with the goal coming from professional player Noha in the 64th minute.


With these results, defending champions Seeb continue their winning streak and currently lead Group A with six points. Dhofar remain in second place with three points, having won one match and suffered one defeat. Oman Club are level on points with Dhofar but hold a superior goal difference. Al Nasr find themselves at the bottom of the group with no points, following two consecutive defeats.


In Group B, Sohar claimed a 1-0 victory over Al Shabab on Sunday. Professional player William Frank struck the lone goal of the match.


QUSAI HITS HAT-TRICK


Meanwhile, Al Rustaq displayed a stellar performance in a 3-2 win against Al Nahda. Qusai al Maamari's hat-trick secured Al Rustaq's victory, overcoming two goals from Al Nahda's Mohammed Khasib.


With this result, Sohar jumped to the fourth point in second place behind Al Rustaq, who lead with four points and a goal difference ahead of Sohar. Al Nahda and Al Shabab share a single point in the third and fourth positions, respectively.


Bahla club continued the excitement in Group C with a 1-0 victory over Ibri on Sunday.


Mohammed Dhih al Omairi's goal in the 74th minute secured the win for Bahla.


In another match of the same group, Sur triumphed over Al Wahda 1-0. Jumaa al Farsi's goal in the 32nd minute of the first half secured the three points for Sur.


Bahla and Sur both hold four points each, with Sur securing the first position in Group C. Ibri follow closely with three points, while Al Wahda sit at the bottom with no points.


The teams are divided into three groups, and the top team from each group along with the best second-placed team will advance to the quarterfinals. The matches in the group stage are played in a league format with two rounds (home and away).
