SALALAH: Dhofar Governorate has won an award for being a distinctive and sustainable city. The award was conferred by the Arab Towns Organisation in recognition of the governorate's efforts to protect the environment, preserve its traditional culture, and create a livable and vibrant community for all.


In line with its commitment to sustainable development, Dhofar Governorate has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. These initiatives include planting trees and creating green spaces, developing renewable energy sources, and promoting energy efficiency. The governorate is also working to protect its natural resources, such as its coastline and mountains.


In addition to its environmental efforts, Dhofar Governorate is also working to preserve its traditional Arab-Islamic architecture and culture.
