CPA resolves consumers' complaints, recovers over RO100k

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) Authority’s Complaints Department was able to recover an amount of RO107,417 in October this year, as part of the efforts to address and resolve consumer complaints.

Ali bin Hamad al-Hakamani, director of complaints, said that the amounts were recovered from a number of sectors such as vehicle repair workshops, tyres, and spare parts, electrical and electronic devices, contracting and building materials, blacksmithing and carpentry workshops, kitchens, furniture and furnishings stores, clothing and textiles, watches and jewelry, labor services, travel and tourism services, and barber and beauty salons.


He said complaints, included vehicle paint wearing off, faulty vehicle repairs, failure to adhere to the delivery date, recurring malfunctions, manufacturing and technical defects, malfunctions in new vehicles, non-compliance with contractual terms, breach of labor warranty, and failure to match the specifications of the sold commodity with the consumer’s expectations.


The number of goods recovered during the same period is 114.


Al-Hakamani stressed the need to preserve the rights of consumers guaranteed to them by law.
