International stars set to thrill at Oman Grand Prix badminton

International players to feature in tournament at AMM Sports Arena

MUSCAT: The second edition of Oman Grand Prix Season 2 badminton tournament will feature world-class players from India, Indonesia, Oman and the GCC on November 10 and 11.


The tournament will be organised by AMM Sports Arena in association with Oman Racket Sports Committee. This prestigious sporting event is a continuation to the massively successful Oman Grand Prix Season 1 held last year.


With the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the tournament will be held at the state-of-the-art AMM Arena at Ghala. The event will feature singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories.


The tournament will attract top-tier players from various countries like India, Indonesia and the wider GCC region making it a true international showdown.


STAR ATTRACTION


Star Indian player Chirag Sen and young Indian sensation Dhruv Rawat along with Ansal Yadav and Siddharth Pratap Singh will be among the prominent international players in fray for the top honours.


The AMM Sports Arena is equipped with world-class facilities such as Badminton World Federation (BWF) approved courts and a stunning arena, ensuring a thrilling atmosphere for both players and fans.



The AMM Arena in association with Oman Racket Sports Committee will provide a great opportunity for young Oman nationals and residents alike to feature in the top tournament.


The event will see participation from other prominent clubs like Marvel Sports Club, Muscat Badminton Club, Oasis Badminton Academy, Falcon Badminton Academy, Kosmos Badminton Academy and Sohar Falajianz.


A substantial prize money pool awaits the winners of each category.


On November 8 and 9, there will be age-group competitions for boys and girls from 5pm to 9pm at the AMM Arena.


Singles events will be held in under-13, under-15 and under-17 while doubles will be conducted in under-15 and under-17 age groups. For Omanis, Under-11 and under-15 singles events will be organised.


It will be free for Omani nationals in the junior age groups competitions while other nationalities will have a registration fee of RO 3. A registration fee of RO 5 will be required for players in the adult section.


In the main tournament on November 10 and 11, men’s singles open, men’s A doubles, men’s B doubles, men’s premier doubles, veterans doubles (plus 45 years old), women’s singles, women’s doubles, men’s singles elite, men’s doubles elite and mixed doubles elite are the various categories to be competed for the honours. The matches will start from 8 am till 9 pm.


Badminton enthusiasts around the world will be able to follow the action through live streaming and television broadcasts.


This tournament is not only a testament to Oman’s growing presence in the world of badminton but also an opportunity for the local community to come together and celebrate the sport.
