Seeb, Al Salam, Al Bashayer, Majees post wins

MUSCAT: Defending champions Seeb commenced their campaign in 2023-24 Oman’s First Division Volleyball League with a 3-0 win over Bahla at Al Amal club. The eight teams club championship began on Friday with four thrilling matches. After an absence of two years, Al Salam bounced back to the league strongly as they registered a 3-1 victory against Sohar at Sohar Sports Complex while Majees stunned Saham 3-0 at the same venue. Al Bashayer captured a crucial 3-1 win against Oman Club.


The title owners Seeb managed to earn their first three points against Bahla after they won in all the three sets at: 25-13, 25-15 and 25-13. The runners-up of the previous edition, Oman Club suffered a 3-1 loss against Al Bashayer. Despite Oman Club leading in the opening set at 25-23, Al Bashayer managed to register strong comeback as they won the following set by 25-20. In the rest two sets, Al Bashayer spikers continued their strong show to end the deciding sets at 25-18 and 28-26.


In another thrilling match on Friday at Al Amal club for the opening round, Al Salam began their campaign on a right note with a strong start as they won against Sohar 3-1 with scores of 25-12, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-20. Al Salam’s star Murad Jehan delivered top performance and assisted his team to the victory.


Majees, coached by Faisal al Maqbali, earned an essential victory against Saham by 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 33-31 and 25-12.


In the second round of the league, Majees and Al Salam will look for their second win as they will meet each other in a tight match on Friday while Saham will look for their first win when they face Seeb at Al Amal club. Oman Club will host Sohar while Bahla will take on Al Bashayer at Nizwa Sports Complex.
