The wetlands reserve in the Wilayat of Mahout in the Al Wusta Governorate, declared by Royal Decree No 51/2014, is among the sites that have multiple ecosystems and a rare biological uniqueness both in the region and world. Hence, the site has been placed among the rare sites for studying biodiversity and the sustainable use of existing wetlands.
