Muscat: An exhibition featuring products made by social security and low income families began in Muscat Grand Mall on Friday. The expo, organised by the Ministry of Social Development, will continue till November 7. It includes ready-made clothes, silverware, jewellery, food, incense and perfumes.

Mohammed al Naabi, an entrepreneur, said, “I am happy to be at this exhibition, through which I can display my products and sell them in the local markets. Such exhibitions motivate entrepreneurs like me to expand my market beyond Oman. Support should be provided to these productive families by the authorities through such exhibitions and marketing outlets."

Ahmed bin Badr al Yahmadi, another participant, said, "I sell daggers, rings, sticks and jewellery. The aim of my participation in this exhibition is reviving Omani heritage from extinction. Currently, I have a small store in the Wilayat of Bidiya and another in Muscat. I aspire to have a branch in one of the commercial centres.

Samia bint Juma al Qasimiyah, a food seller, said, "This is my first participation in the productive families exhibitions. I hope to market my products in this exhibition and expand to more governorates in the Sultanate of Oman and abroad."

Naima bint Ibrahim and Salma bint Nasser al Wardiyah, boutique owners, said, "We can showcase our products including abayas and other ready-made clothes. We hop there will be a demand for these products."
