MUSCAT : The ‘Oman Industry Artificial Intelligence Forum 2023’ took place here on November 1, 2023 in a significant move to harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for sustainable development.
The event, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), was organized by Gulf Intelligence (GI).
The forum, graced by the presence of Dr Ali al Shidhani, Under-Secretary for Communications and Information Technology, aimed to champion the role of AI and advanced technology in propelling Oman's economic growth.
The forum featured four distinct segments, each delving into diverse aspects of AI and technology. In the first segment, a welcoming session took place with the participation of D. Ali al Shidhani and prominent CEOs from various sectors. This session fostered an exchange of ideas and perspectives on the pivotal role of AI in elevating various industries.
The second segment centered on a dialogue about the Ministry’s commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the launch of its AI and advanced technologies program. Key achievements and advancements in the field over the past year were highlighted.
The third segment scrutinized the role of AI in health, safety, and the environment, emphasizing how advanced technology can enhance public safety, health, and behavior safety.
The fourth segment addressed Oman's prospects in additive AI and explored the primary opportunities and challenges in the technology sector.
Notably, the forum also addressed topics related to economic diversification, capacity building, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and core sectors. It further considered legislative and regulatory measures designed to bolster the human dimension and steer Oman's economy towards a more technologically-driven future.
The forum also featured professional educational seminars aimed at facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of technology.
This forward-looking initiative underscores Oman's commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology to achieve sustainable development and foster economic growth in the region.
