Seeb remain on top, Suhar, Ibri wins

MUSCAT: League leader, Seeb took the advantage of Al Nahdha’s draw against Al Rustaq in the ninth week of Omantel league to extend their strength in the top of league’s outstanding table.


Seeb thrashed Bahla 3-0, while Al Nahdha held to a 1-1 draw against Al Rustaq. Seeb’s crucial win over Bahla 3-0 on Saturday, Muscat-based team credit to 23 points while the seventh loss increased Bahla’s struggling in the bottom at 12th position with four points only.


Abdulaziz al Maqbali put Seeb ahead by header after perfect cross ball from Ali al Maqbali in the 30th minute. Then, Omar al Fazari doubled Seeb’s lead after he entered the box and shot a long ball across the goalie in the 45th minute. Omar al Fazari confirmed Seeb’s triumph as he netted the third goal in the 80th minute.


Al Rustaq hold the current runners up Al Nahdha to a 1-1 draw at Al Rustaq Sports Complex. The hosts registered the lead by a goal through Kabieji from penalty shot out while Hamood al Saadi equalised in the 45th minute. The draw kept Al Buraimi representative team in the second place with 19 points while Al Rustaq positioned in the ninth position with eight points.

Suhar jumped to be inch closer to the top two teams in the league order as they recorded a thrilling 2-1 win over Al Shabab at Al Rustaq Sports Complex. The win took northern Batinah team to the 18th points in the third place while Al Shabab remained at their previous nine points in the ninth place. Frank William registered the winner for Suhar in style in the dying minutes while the opening goal for visitors scored by Danieal Etor and Al Shahab’s equaliser netted by Emerson in style.


Ibri continued showing their top performance as they outclassed Sur 1-0 in a thrilling encounter. At Ibri Sports Complex, Junior delivered a crucial victory for his team as he netted the winner for his team. The victory took Ibri to 12 points in the fifth place while Sur stayed in the following position with ten points.


The league will stop for almost one month period as the HM Cup matches will be held in the coming few days and the national team will begin their preparations for the joint qualifiers of Fifa World Cup and AFC Asian Cup Championship in November.
