MuscatL During its seventh meeting of this year, the Municipal Council of the Muscat Governorate, under the leadership of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, ratified the council’s recommendation on the draft decision regulating the use of residential buildings for commercial purposes.


The decision aims to address the situation of commercial activities in residential buildings, taking into account what includes activities that contribute to the development of the business environment.


The decision included having approved streets in which commercial activities will be allowed to be carried out within the residential buildings and specifying the activities permitted such as streets kindergartens and nurseries, special centers for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (specialized centers), private schools (till first grade), Holy Quran schools, women’s beauty salons, general and specialty medicine clinics, and retail sale of readymade clothing (women’s clothing boutique).


The meeting also reviewed the recommendations of the Development Committee regarding projects in the Muscat Governorate, implemented by the Muscat Municipality, aimed at creating modern walkways that are compatible with the nature of the neighborhoods and equipped with the necessary facilities.
