

MUSCAT: Dr Mahad bin Saeed Baaween, Oman's Minister of Labour, presided over OQ's tenth cohort graduation ceremony for the Employment Training Programme, a significant milestone in the group's ongoing commitment to human resource development.
The event, held at the W Muscat Hotel, celebrated the graduation of 220 talented male and female participants, marking a total of 1,578 graduates since the programme's initiation in 2011, all of whom have gone on to contribute to OQ's various sectors in engineering, technical, and commercial fields in partnership with the Ministry of Labour.
Additionally, 57 male and female trainees successfully completed OQ's "Eidaad" Programme, a collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MOHERI), which involved a rigorous nine-month training programme at OQ's sites and facilities
These achievements reflect OQ's dedication to investing in human resources, empowering the youth, and fostering entrepreneurship, all aligned with Oman Vision 2040's aspirations for advancing human potential. This commitment is further evidenced by OQ's employment statistics, with 4,884 full-time employees in 2022, achieving an impressive Omanisation rate of 84%, up from 82% in 2021.
OQ's emphasis on nurturing national talent extends to its extensive training and development programmes, benefiting 1,800 male and female graduates across various fields during the current year. These programmes encompass organizational, engineering, commercial, and administrative sectors. Moreover, in 2022, OQ delivered an astounding 108,000 training hours, with an additional 10,532 hours dedicated to health, safety, security, and environmental subjects.
OQ's commitment to workers' rights is underlined by its support for the trade union system as mandated by the Ministry of Labour, allowing workers to form trade unions voluntarily without facing adverse consequences.
Ashraf bin Hamad al Mamari, Chief Executive of People, Technology, and Culture at OQ, delivered a speech highlighting the organization's integral role in human development. Al Mamari emphasized the synergy between governmental and private sector efforts in enhancing the capabilities of Oman's human resources. He particularly underscored the significance of the Employment Training Programme in empowering national cadres across OQ's companies and facilities.
The "Eidaad" Programme, in collaboration with MOHERI, plays a vital role in preparing students, graduates, and jobseekers by immersing them in OQ's work culture and philosophy. Participants leave the programme equipped with the skills required for efficient integration into the job market and a promising professional future.
The ceremony concluded with Dr Baaween, the patron of the event, taking photographs with the graduates from both programmes.
