Dhofar: Heavy rains that lashed the wilayats of Rakhyout and Dhalkout over the past two days caused rockslide and mudslide and damage to the asphalt layer in several points on the roads leading to the two wilayats prompting traffic disruption. The Dhofar Municipality alongside the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) and private companies, have embarked on road repair and restoration operations.

Mohammed by Said Hardan from Dhalkout Charity Team said: “ We worked with the competent authorities in the preparation of the shelter centres. We began with 3 centres, at Dhalkout School, Hafuf School, and Deem School, but the subcommittee tasked with following up the situation decided that the wilayat’s centre should be evacuated including the shelter centre in Dhalkut School. Hence, the evacuees at Dhalkout School shelter centre had to be relocated to the other two shelter centres. Everyone was cooperative and helpful including citizens and residents. A number of health centre staff were temporarily shifted to the two shelter centres and a makeshift clinic was set up.”
