MUSCAT: Omani voters based abroad started casting their vote today to choose their representatives for the 10th Term of Majlis Ash’shura via the Intakhib application.

The voting process started at 8 am and will end at 7 p.m. Oman local time.

The electoral process for the next term of Majlis Ash’shura is witnessing a quantum leap with the launch of the second version of the Intakhib application.

The Ministry of Interior stated that several improvements have been introduced to the Intakhib voting application to save voters time and effort. The ministry affirmed that all election-related procedures have been simplified after the provision of 12 new electronic services.

The voting application is distinguished by its ease of use and its security level.

The voter’s data will be verified through three steps namely: photographing the original ID card, reading the ID card data via the NFC feature, and taking a personal photo of the voter.

All the voter has to do is to take a photo of their ID card from both sides, place the ID card chip close to the phone in order to read the data, and then take a personal photo then the candidate list will appear from which they can choose their favorite candidate. — ONA
