BP, OPAZ sign MoU for green hydrogen

MuscatL BP and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the potential allocation of land to develop green hydrogen derivatives within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).


This is linked to the project agreement signed by BP and Hydrom in June 2023 in which BP plans to produce approximately 150,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually through solar and wind energy in Al Wusta.


The MoU was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Akak, acting CEO of SEZAD and on behalf of OPAZ, and Eng. Yousuf Al Ojaili, President of BP Oman.
