‘Al Minor’ takes Oman to Kenya International Sports Film Festival

The film ‘Al Minor’, directed by Mohammed bin Abdullah al Ajmi is a film from the Sultanate of Oman taking part in the fifth edition of the Kenya International Sports Film Festival. The festival, from October 26 to 29, carries the theme ‘Sports unites society, and sports films inspire society.’ This prestigious event received an overwhelming 1,422 film submissions from 110 countries, with a panel of experts meticulously selecting the best entries.

‘Al Minor’ delves into the world of Omani Zamat, providing a captivating look into how these teams prepare for competition. The film explores the meticulous preparations, the suitable venues, and the unique judging criteria used in these competitions. It also highlights the enchanting melodies of Al-Maniwar's distinctive voice, which resonate deep within the hearts of the audience, all while maintaining the suspenseful and engaging style of a documentary.

The film has made a significant impact on the international film circuit. It has participated in over 15 film festivals worldwide, earning numerous accolades. Domestically, it secured the prestigious Best Omani Film Award at the Al Sharqiya Film Festival and claimed second place in the documentary category at the Al Dakhiliya Film Festival. Internationally, the film received the Audience Award at the Tire Film Festival in Lebanon.

This film also made appearances at the Fourth Casablanca International Film Festival, the Eleventh India Film Festival in India, the Hurghada Youth Film Festival in Egypt, and the Love, Peace, and Freedom Film Festival in the United States of America.


‘Al Minor’ was crafted under the direction of Muhammad bin Abdullah al Ajmi with a screenplay by Saeed bin Sulaiman al Wahaibi. The talented crew included the director of photography Muhammad al Ruqaishi, with support from Younis al Raisi, Khaled al Jaradi, and Ibrahim al Shabibi. Adnan al Mujaini was responsible for the montage and mixing, with assistant director Adnan al Mujaini. Abeer al Qutaiti handled the translation, and Hamad al Mujaini coordinated the efforts. The film was a collaborative effort between Anwar al Ruzaiqi, Fatima al Hinai, Amira al Balushi, and Qaiser al Hinai. The Al Batinah Film Festival and the Omani Film Society produced the film.
