MUSCAT, OCT 10
Oman is making strides in strengthening its economic prospects as it hosts the 7th International Plastics, Rubber, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Printing and Packaging Industry Exhibition 2023 (Oman Plast 2023).
The inauguration of the event, taking place from October 10 to 12, 2023, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat, was presided over by Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Commerce and Industry Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP).
The 7th Oman Plast 2023 has attracted exhibitors from several countries, including Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Italy, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
At its core, the event serves as a platform to showcase cutting-edge innovations and technologies in plastics, rubber, packaging, and petrochemical manufacturing. This exhibition not only presents a unique opportunity for Oman but also extends its reach to neighboring countries, fostering economic growth through knowledge sharing.
Oman's petrochemical industry plays a pivotal role in its economic landscape, and this event is expected to further diversify and boost this sector. Projections indicate that the Middle East and African markets will continue their remarkable growth, with an annual growth rate of approximately 30 percent, cementing the region's status as a global hub for plastic production resin.
While economic growth is a primary focus, Oman remains committed to sustainability. The Middle East is a significant source of plastic raw materials, with up to 16 percent of the region's abundant petroleum supply being converted into products such as plastic. In line with growing environmental concerns, Oman is actively promoting eco-friendly solutions, including degradable plastics.
P D Nath, Managing Director of Silver Star, underscores the significance of this event, stating, "7th Oman Plast 2023 is perfectly timed to capitalize on Oman's economic momentum in plastics, rubber, packaging, and petrochemicals. It provides a gateway to a highly potential market, offering excellent business opportunities and avenues for new collaborations."
The exhibition is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on all three days.
