MUSCAT, OCT 8

Oxy Oman, a key player in the region's energy sector, celebrated on Sunday, October 8, 2023, the successful graduation of 130 engineers and geoscientists who had recently completed its intensive Engineering and Geoscientists Fresh Graduates Development Program.

This three-year initiative is designed to equip fresh technical graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers within Oxy Oman's operations. The ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt Muscat under the auspices of Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

The event witnessed the participation of key executives, including Steven Lauver, President and General Manager at Oxy Oman. At the heart of this achievement is Oxy Oman's strategic Human Resources vision, designed for enduring recruitment and the nurturing of its human capital.

Over 25 specialists from various company departments actively contributed to this program's development, supported by a dedicated team of 80 employees who executed the program under the auspices of the Learning and Development Department.

Steven Lauver, President and General Manager of Oxy Oman emphasized the company's commitment to bolstering Omani job seekers throughout their operational activities. The overarching objective is to empower these individuals with the skills required to emerge as future leaders in their chosen fields. This vision aligns seamlessly with the Omani government's broader mission of providing diverse employment opportunities and comprehensive training for its youth, thereby fostering meaningful employment prospects, he said.

Lauver also expressed a sense of pride in the company's robust hiring strategy, which not only resulted in over 3,600 direct employment opportunities but also achieved an impressive 95 per cent Omanization of Oxy Oman's workforce.

This graduation event is emblematic of Oxy Oman's strategy to support initiatives that contribute to economic growth, sustainable development, and positive impacts within neighboring communities, he added.
