Muscat: In response to the directives from the Council of Ministers, the Public Services Regulatory Authority has decided to increase the previously set reduction rate on electricity bills for the "residential category." This increase sees the reduction rate elevated from 15 percent to an impressive 30 percent of the total bill value for all subscribers holding basic accounts and national support accounts during the months of July and August 2023.

Furthermore, the authority has committed to a thorough examination of the electricity sector's costs, with an unwavering commitment to maintaining the quality of service. Their goal is to explore alternative and sustainable solutions to address the persistent issue of high electricity bills during the summer months in the years to come.

This development comes in response to a series of reports in recent months highlighting a significant upsurge in electricity bills, particularly during the scorching summer season. These reports have given rise to substantial discontent and concern among both the citizens and residents of the region.
