Members of the Muscat Chapter of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI, took part in a cleaning campaign at the Qurum beach over the weekend.


The campaign aimed at sharing a message of environment preservation and standing together for a cause with the young members of the group.


Over 100 men, women and children, members of the Chapter, joined hands to remove huge volumes of waste that comprised predominantly plastic, fishing net, camping debris, and so on.


The dedicated force to cleanup campaign began their work at 7 am and continued till forenoon and gathered huge amount of waste at the beach and around which is frequented by the public.


“The purpose of this drive is to create awareness about the climate change and the importance of keeping our surroundings clean," said C A Jim Joseph Itty, Chairman of the Chapter, adding that the Chapter is also planning various activities in line with G20 message of ‘One earth, one family, one future”.


ICAI is the largest profession accounting body in the world with over 400, 000 members.


ICAI Muscat Chapter, established in 2008 under the sponsorship of College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), has more than 350 registered members and also has sub-committees in Suhar and Salalah.


“Omani CFO mentoring programme” conducted in association with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) is another Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Chapter, which is ongoing in Muscat and Salalah for eight weeks, according to the members.
