MUSCAT: Seeb extended their lead with four points after the end of the sixth week of 2023-24 Omantel League following a 3-0 win over Ibri in a postponement match from opening round. With the triumph, Seeb managed to register their fifth victory in the league and the Muscat-based team’s tally reached 16 points and Oman Club are in second position with 12 points. Ibri are struggling at the bottom, stuck on their three points at 12th place.
Seeb’s Jackson Bisan scored the opening goal from a header after a perfect cross from Omar al Fazari in the 34th minute. Later on, Omar al Fazari came back again to double the lead in the beginning of the second half with a strong ball from free kick outside the box went directly to the net in the 49th minute. Oman national team player Mohsin al Ghassani ended the scoring spree in the 87th minute as he netted the third goal to confirm Seeb’s win.
In the forthcoming round, Seeb will meet Sur on Wednesday while Ibri will face a tough challenge as they will take on Dhofar on Tuesday.
HM CUP MATCHES
On the other hand, the preliminary round matches of the HM Football Cup Championship will begin on Tuesday as Muscat will host Sur club at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The match will start at 17:05.
On Thursday, two fixtures will take place for the same round as Al Salam will meet Fanja at Sohar Sports Complex while Al Wahda will take on Al Taliya at Sur Sports Complex. The majority of this round encounters will be scheduled on Friday as Ahli Sidab will face off Salalah at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex while Al Khabourah will host Al Ittihad at Sohar Sports Complex.
Ibri will meet Al Shabab while Qurayat will be in a clash against Al Mudhaibi at Sur Sports Complex. The concluding match of preliminary round will be on Saturday between Saham and Nizwa at Sohar Sports Complex.
