MUSCAT: At Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) in alignment with the efforts to support Oman Vision 2040 goals, the national educational programme "We are Oman" was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research & Innovation. The programme is designed for higher education students with the aim of providing future skills and entrepreneurship to keep pace with scientific and technical development. In addition, it aspires to boosting Omani identity and pride in national achievements, and fostering responsible, and positive citizenship to help instill values like culture, science, learning, citizenship, and identity preservation in the Omani youth.

As part of Modern College of Business and Science’s vision, and in line with the nation’s aspirations, the college continues to be a leading institution in the region by facilitating learning, skills, innovation, and technology to better serve society in the twenty-first century. From this standpoint, the Department of General Education at MCBS organised the first of a series of events under the name of, “Omani History: A Tool to Understand the Past, and Plan for The Future."

A lecture was presented by Khamis Rashid al Adawi, an Omani scholar, researcher, and writer. Al Adawi presented on the MCBS campus, with members of the faculty, staff, and students among the attendees, many of whom posed interesting questions that demonstrated their interest in the subject. The lecture sought to enhance the principle of identity and belonging among students by examining Omani history, which includes many values that new generations can benefit from and which can contribute to solving many of the problems of contemporary life.

Dr Moosa al Kindi, Dean of MCBS shared, “It gives us great pleasure, as one of Oman’s pioneering higher education institutions to embrace and encourage intellectually inspiring lectures in order to engage students and provide them a platform to appreciate the importance of their identity and history. At MCBS we welcome many more scholars and like-minded individuals as Al Adawi to connect with the future cornerstone of Oman.”
