Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Foreign Ministry, expressed its strong condemnation over burning the Holy Quran by a group of extremists in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In an online statement, the ministry denounced desecrating copies of the holy Quran in front of a number of embassies in The Hague, condemning such repeated provocative acts against Muslim feelings and sanctities as they incite to violence and hatred.

Meanwhile, the ministry reiterated the need for concerted international efforts to consolidate the values of tolerance, coexistence and respect, and to criminalise all acts that promote the ideology of extremism and hatred.
