Muscat: The Central Market for Vegetables and Fruits in Khazaen has announced the second phase of the plans to rent out new market facilities in Khazaen Economic City by inviting companies engaged in wholesale vegetable and fruit business.
The bookings will start from October 1 as the market is ready for opening next year.
The completion rate of the new market in Khazaen Economic City is 75 percent and it is expected to serve a larger segment of clientele.
The market includes many important facilities and basic services, the most important of which are central refrigerated warehouses and an air-conditioned sales hall, refrigerated warehouses, a sales area for trucks, sheds for sorting and selling onions and potatoes, dry warehouses, and sorting and repacking workshops.
The market also contains a station designated for receiving trucks, a maintenance and charging station for electric forklifts, a platform for customs inspection, quarantine and food safety, and a laboratory for examining agricultural samples of vegetables and fruits.
The market will offer a number of services, such as banking services, truck parking, light vehicle parking, places for prayer, restaurants and cafes, transaction clearance offices, and other necessary facilities and services. The market will also contain retail outlets.
