Reaching Lake Zakt requires a journey of approximately 150 kilometres from Muscat Governorate, roughly a two-hour drive. However, the last leg of the journey is an unpaved dirt road, rendering a four-wheel-drive vehicle essential and necessitating all necessary safety precautions.
Visitors should know that Lake Zakt lacks conventional tourist amenities and is not developed for mainstream tourism. Nevertheless, it holds a special allure for those dedicated to professional swimming and diving. The lake complex consists of a large primary lake and a smaller, more treacherous one. Caution is strongly advised when approaching the smaller lake due to the risk of falls, particularly for families with children. A visit to Lake Zakt is best enjoyed during winter, as the scorching summer temperatures can be challenging.
