

AL BURIAMI: The Directorate of Environment in Al Buraimi Governorate completed the plantation of 7,400 wild trees in cooperation with Haya Water, Al Buraimi Charitable Team and private companies.
The move comes as a contribution to the national initiative aimed at planting 10 million trees.
Nasser bin Hamood al Yaqoubi, Director of Environment in Al Buraimi Governorate, said that the directorate is implementing the national initiative for the plantation of 10 million trees with the aim of enhancing vegetation at the deteriorated pastures and rehabilitating mining sites through the localization of ecosystems.
The project for planting 7,400 wild trees in the governorate involves the plantation of 1,200 Ghaf and Sidra trees at the Haya sector. The implementation of the second phase of the project began with the rehabilitation of the remaining area of 15,000 sq metres. In the Wilayat of Al Sinaina, the third phase of Al Safa sector was completed by planting 4,000 wild trees in partnership with the private sector, the official added. In addition, 2,500 wild trees were planted in the Wilayat of Mahdha in partnership with the private sector and the other plantation process will be completed over the coming period. — ONA
