MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences is gearing up to welcome 9,433 students for the upcoming academic year 2023-2024.


Among these students, 4,623 are male, 4,800 are female, and 52 are expatriates enrolled in the International Student Programme. These students will be distributed across various branches of the university.


About 1,693 students, the highest number will be enrolled in the Muscat branch, followed by 1,295 in Nizwa, 1,118 in Salalah, and approximately 1,000 each in Shinas, Al Musannah, Ibra, and Ibri branches. Suhar will enroll 394 students, Sur 338, the teacher preparation programme in Al Rustaq 298, and Musandam 139.


To ensure a smooth transition for the newcomers, the university has organised an induction week from September 10 to 14, with classes officially commencing on September 17.


All university branches have prepared comprehensive programmes to introduce students to the academic system, university regulations, and the various departments and centres within the university. Placement exams will also be administered to determine students' placement in the first foundation year according to university regulations.


The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has branches in several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, including Muscat, Nizwa, Ibra, Salalah, Al Musannah, Al Rustaq, Suhar, Shinas, Sur, Ibri, and Musandam.


It offers a total of 6 colleges and 44 specialisations.


The university is committed to supporting national initiatives and collaborations, such as the Omani programme for cultural cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries. Omani or international schools in Oman can apply for fee-exempt scholarships for their students to study at the university through the Unified Admission Center.


In the upcoming academic year, the university is dedicated to creating an optimal educational environment and providing the necessary infrastructure, educational resources, and service facilities to advance education in the Sultanate of Oman.
