Future of Mobility initiative to check carbon emissions

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, announced that it will launch the ‘Future of Mobility’ initiative during the Oman Sustainability Week (OSW) scheduled to be held between April 29 and May 1, 2024. The OSW will comprise a series of events in support of the national sustainability goals in collaboration with Oman Exhibitions Organizing Company (CONNECT).


The initiative aims to address the need to handle carbon emission. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is making efforts to reduce carbon emission in the transport, communications and information technology sectors.


The event will highlight innovators in the transport sector who are at the forefront of driving sustainability, advanced technologies, digital solutions, data systems solutions, smart infrastructure solutions, electric and hybrid vehicles, infrastructure, and complementary components that facilitate the sector’s transformation strategy.


The Future of Mobility initiative at Oman Sustainability Week will represent an effective platform for pioneers in the transportation industry to showcase their latest concepts, solutions, technologies and innovations in the field of environmental mobility. This will enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s endeavour to create an economy free of carbon emissions. The visitors will have the opportunity to explore modern trends in the field of clean transportation and will be able to interact with experts and industry leaders involved in future mobility and see closely the constantly evolving mobility scene.


A number of entities specialised in transport will take part in Oman Sustainability Week including Asyad Group, Oman Environmental Services Holding (be'ah), OQ, BP Oman, Oman LNG, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Sohar Aluminium, among others.


The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology will offer other initiatives as part of Oman Sustainability Week with a view of supporting the transition to zero carbon neutrality which includes adding the Environmental Mobility category as part of the Oman Sustainability Week Awards. — ONA
