Salalah workshop appeals for coordination in boosting energy, water efficiency

SALALAH: The General Secretariat of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held a workshop on electrical and water rationalization, which began in Salalah here on August 30, 2023. The two-day workshop was coordinated and supervised by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), and Nama Group represented by Nama Dhofar Services.


The workshop covered four main themes: Reviewing modern projects and technologies related to rationalising and improving energy and water efficiency; Discussing technical specifications and standards related to the field of rationalization; Reviewing the challenges faced and successful experiences in the field of rationalising and improving the efficiency of energy and water use; and Discussing awareness programs and social responsibility in the energy and water sector.


The workshop was attended by experts and specialists from various entities and institutions in the GCC countries. The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities related to rationalising electricity and water consumption, and reviewed innovative strategies and techniques that can contribute to improving the eco-efficiency of power generation and water use operations. They also discussed future ambitions and development plans for the application of these technologies and innovations.


The workshop concluded with a call for further cooperation and coordination between the GCC countries in the field of electrical and water rationalisation. The participants agreed to continue their efforts to raise awareness of the importance of this issue and to promote the adoption of sustainable practices.


The workshop was a valuable opportunity for the GCC countries to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of electrical and water rationalisation. It is also a step towards achieving the GCC's common goal of preserving and sustaining its natural resources for future generations.
