Salalah: The State Audit Institution hosted financial and administrative control authorities from the GCC states on a daylong seminar focusing on the goal of strengthening integrity and combating corruption in public sector organisations.

The annual event, held at the Millennium Resort Salalah, underlined the importance of institutional and community partnerships and their role in protecting public money.

The seminar was divided into two sessions. The first session, titled “Strengthening Institutional and Community Bonds in Safeguarding Public Funds,” was led by Senior Supervisory Officer Nasser al Busaidi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Legal Business at Oman’s Financial and Administrative Control Authority. Speakers in this session addressed a variety of topics, including the institutional roles in safeguarding public funds, the legal frameworks governing partnership activities in protecting public funds, the role of complaints and reports as tools for community partnership in fighting corruption, and the involvement of community institutions in raising awareness about protecting public funds.

The second session, titled “Pioneering Practices and Future Trajectories of Institutional and Community Partnerships,” was moderated by Hisham bin Ali al Rawas, Director of the Department of Control of Government Units.

Speakers in this session shared international experiences in institutional and community partnerships to safeguard public funds and discussed the enhanced value of institutional collaboration in protecting public funds.

The seminar was a valuable opportunity for GCC member states to share knowledge and best practices on how to strengthen integrity and combat corruption through institutional collaboration. The event also highlighted the importance of community participation in the fight against corruption.
