MUSCAT: In a recent mid-year assessment conducted by Numbeo, Oman has emerged as the top-ranked country in Asia for quality of life, securing the 7th position globally. The Quality of Life Index provides a comprehensive evaluation of various factors that contribute to the overall well-being and living standards of individuals residing in a particular country or city.

Scoring an impressive 184.8 points on the index, Oman has outperformed other Asian nations, reinforcing its reputation as a desirable destination for residents and expatriates alike. The country's high ranking can be attributed to several elements that significantly impact the quality of life, including purchasing power, pollution levels, housing affordability, cost of living, safety, healthcare quality, commute times, and climate conditions.

Leading the pack globally are Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Iceland, Denmark, Finland, and Switzerland, occupying the top six positions, respectively. These nations have long been lauded for their robust social welfare systems, strong economies, and high standards of living. Oman's remarkable achievement in securing the 7th position reflects its continuous efforts to improve the well-being of its citizens and residents.

The Quality of Life Index serves as a valuable tool for individuals, businesses, and policymakers seeking comparative insights into various countries and cities. A higher index value signifies a better quality of life, indicating that Oman boasts favorable conditions across multiple parameters.

The Sultanate of Oman has consistently invested in infrastructure development, healthcare, and education, which has contributed to its rise in the Quality of Life Index. The country's strong purchasing power, coupled with affordable housing options and a low crime rate, has made it an attractive destination for individuals looking to settle down or establish businesses.

Furthermore, Oman's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development has resulted in relatively low pollution levels, offering its residents cleaner air and a healthier environment. The provision of high-quality healthcare services and the presence of state-of-the-art medical facilities have further bolstered Oman's position on the index.

In comparison to its regional counterparts, Oman has outperformed the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which secured a spot in the top 15 (173.8 points), Qatar at 19th position (166.6 points), Saudi Arabia at 32nd (150.7 points) , and Kuwait at 45th (129.7 points) . This achievement not only reflects Oman's commitment to enhancing the well-being of its citizens but also underscores its competitiveness in the region.

As Oman continues to focus on diversifying its economy and promoting sustainable growth, this recognition is expected to attract further investments and bolster the country's standing on the global stage. The government's continued efforts to improve infrastructure, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance social welfare programs are likely to contribute to the country's future success and advancement in the quality of life index.
