Are we on the verge of another pandemic wave?

The international media has begun to warn governments of the need to prevent the next pandemic by urging people to wear face mask. The British newspaper, Independent, quoted some experts on the need to take the necessary precautions to prevent an outbreak by a new variant of the coronavirus.

Of course, sceptics have cautioned that such warnings are designed to help certain pharmaceutical companies and vaccine manufacturers to further enrich themselves.

According to the Independent, hospital admissions linked to Covid-19 infections have risen, while other reports out of the US indicate that around 3,000 people had died during the past three weeks due to the spread of the new variant of the coronavirus. This uptrend in fatalities, it appears, coincided with the decline in the efficacy of the vaccines that people had previously been mandated to take.

The emergence of the new variant, coupled with media reporting of its spread, only works to spread anxiety, fear and terror among the masses, governments and health organizations. Conversely, inadequate vaccines at healthcare institutions means potentially more chaos especially as we are approaching the winter period, which is conducive to the spread of infection. More precautions are necessary to monitor the new variant, support coordination between stakeholder institutions, and to stock up on the requisite emergency supplies, such as respirators, for example.

Undoubtedly, the dissemination of news about this epidemic in various media means will inevitably lead to governments taking decisions to safeguard their populations from exposure, and to limit any outbreak’s impact on daily life.

The British newspaper indicates that the number of people infected with Covid-19 in Britain increased by about 200,000 during the month of July, which confirms that the issue really needs attention and follow-up to determine whether it is a fabricated crisis or a new variant.

The WHO and US health authorities recently announced that they are closely monitoring a new variant of Covid-19, which has been detected in some countries, including the US and Denmark. The new variant of Covid-19 has increased the number of infections globally, but nowhere near the peaks of the past years.

The WHO issued a statement indicating that more than 1.4 million new cases of Covid-19 were recorded, with over 2,300 fatalities – numbers that worry governments and peoples. Is the world ready for a new pandemic or is just another health crisis of the kind that surfaces from time to time?
