Summer season is still scorching here! Families are trying their best to beat the heat and enjoy their summer holidays. Now is the perfect time for people to have a long refreshing break with family. Undoubtedly, they all have been impatiently waiting for the summer break. A short break would always be needed to refresh the memories, recharge the body and stimulate one’s spirit and interests. However, summer holidays are about to bid farewell in few weeks!

As summer is always associated with holiday and travel, people work on different world destinations to spend good time and great moments with family, friends and loved ones. Generally, tourism and travelling or even touring around the country is being a trend that many people are experiencing nowadays during holidays. Perhaps, it is becoming common phenomenon as another way of promoting tourism indeed.

However, out of individuals’ experience and a common observation that most people prefer to spend their holiday abroad! Although it is a burden on families, travelling during summer is becoming a priority that shouldn’t be missed by them. They opt to be out of country exploring cultures and nature of other nations. Probably, some might wonder why those people don’t spend their time and money within the country instead!

As a matter of fact, it is all about finding what really entertains people and attracts their interests. However, this might not all is available in the country, so on what people spend their money and time?! Except the natural sightseeing and historical landmarks, there is nothing else that can entice people’s attention. Even those attractions are not well maintained and prepared to attract tourists and visitors as they should be.

Although Oman is very rich with unique historical tourist destinations and natural attractions some of which are one of the best in the world. However, unfortunately they are not even given consideration and not a simple investment is paid to uplift the destination. Simply, there is no proper shade or rest areas where people can spend the day out. No essential services or kids’ entertainment facilities are provided.

Though what is needed is to make those places attractive tourist destinations and a little bit of thinking out of the box solutions. Sometimes, only small ideas could change a place and make it a touristic hub not only for locals, but also for foreign tourists. Case in a point, Salalah is regarded a worldwide tourist destination for hundreds of thousands of people. However, other than the greenery and nice refreshing weather, there is not much to entertain people there. Though, new recreations are being added gradually.

In fact, so many other popular tourist destinations within the country that are not efficiently invested to attract tourists and visitors. One just wonders what is the mysterious challenge that is obstructing the concerned from developing and investing in the tourist landmarks?! Why private sector is not attracted to invest in tourism facilities!

Is it that complicated and challenging to make more investments?! Possibly, the private sector could support in putting more efforts and investments if given a chance. Why not letting some specialised local or international companies to gamble on tourism, and they might come up with some valuable projects. Perhaps, they could bring more investments, tourists and business opportunities to the country. Businessmen could also be given an opportunity to contribute in promoting local tourism.

In other countries, simple entertainment activities and projects have been implemented. Thinking of them as cases, with all the budgets and facilities we have on offer, we could have done far much better than what they have. Probably, we need aggressive people who could think out of the box and invest on available resources with cost affective projects.
