Weather update: Met issues heavy rain alert

Muscat: Oman's Weather Office on Sunday issued a heavy rain alert over some parts of the Sultanate.


Heavy rainfalls ranging between 20-40 mm is expected till 10pm today over the mountanious areas of Al Dakhiliya, Al Dhahira, Al Buraimi, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, and Dhofar governorates, Met Office said.


Poor horizontal visibility due to dust rising during thundershower and downdraft wind with speed of 15-45 knots also expected. The agency also warned of flash floods and urged people to move away from wadis and low-lying areas during heavy rains.
