Muscat: The Royal Oman Police reported that its ambulance services shifted three injured people from Haima Hospital to Nizwa Reference Hospital for treatment following a road accident in the Wilayat of Haima, after midnight on Tuesday.

According to Haima Hospital, three of the 12 injured passengers were seriously injured, while two suffered moderately.

It may be noted that on Monday morning, the police and the hospital authorities reported an accident in Haima on the Muscat-Salalah road.

A police aircraft transported two female citizens from Haima in Al Wusta Governorate to Nizwa Reference Hospital to receive treatment after they were seriously injured as a result of a vehicle crash carrying six citizens, while the other four are receiving treatment at Haima Hospital, the official statement said.

The emergency department at Haima Hospital said it accepted 6 cases, including two patients who were seriously injured.

It may be noted that 80 percent or 647,301 Khareef visitors to Salalah in 2022 came via road, compared to 165,704 visitors who took the flights. These may include travelers from neighboring countries.

The number of visitors to Salalah during Khareef 2022 was 813,000 visitors, an increase of 6 percent from 767,000 in 2021, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The 1,000-km stretch to Salalah has often turned out to be fatal for some motorists and their families. Overspeeding, fatigue, and low visibility during rains are often cited as the main reasons for these unfortunate incidents.
