The Social Protection Fund is an entity with administrative and financial independence established by Royal Decree No. (33/2021);

Benefit for persons with disabilities

The program provides a monthly financial support to Omanis with disabilities whose cases require care and support in accordance with the controls and following evaluations as per the executive regulations of the Social Protection Law.

An amount of RO130 will be disbursed starting from the month in which the eligibility conditions are met provided that the beneficiary is Omani, residing in the Sultanate of Oman, and one of the categories of persons with disabilities stipulated in the executive regulations of the Social Protection Law.

The beneficiary must have a personal bank account and is registered - with the competent authorities - within one of the categories of persons with disabilities stipulated in the regulations, and the medical and functional assessment of disability with the competent authorities on the date that the fund will announce.

Benefits for orphans and widows

The program provides with monthly financial support to help people in the challenges resulting from the loss of the breadwinner, and in cases where the shares of orphans or widows who are entitled to pensions from social insurance branches are less than the value of this benefit, or in cases that do not have pensions, and their value varies starting from the date of the death of the breadwinner.

The widow has the difference between the value of the benefit of RO80 per month and the value of the monthly pensions that she receives from the social insurance branches, and the orphan has the difference between the value of the benefit (RO80) per month and the value of the monthly pensions from the death pensions as a maximum according to the number of siblings and the death of one or both parents.

The widow shall not to be married after widowhood and the method of registration is by entering the personal account in the Social Protection Fund and verifying or confirming the data through the approved service providers on the date that the fund will announce using the civil number and ensuring that the personal data, phone number and other information in the civil status register are up-to-date, and that the beneficiary has a personal bank account and a record of the death (husband, father, mother) in the Civil Status Register.

The eligibility conditions require that the orphan beneficiary meet the following conditions, namely, that the beneficiary be Omani and reside in the Sultanate of Oman, and his age should not exceed (18) eighteen years, and the widowed beneficiary must be Omani and reside in the Sultanate of Oman, and must not have reached the age of 60 years.

Family income support benefit

The Social Protection Program provides a family income support benefit by providing monthly financial support to families with lower incomes and fewer opportunities to earn, improving living conditions and additional support for family income. The entitlement to this benefit depends on the family’s income level and the ability of its members to earn.

The benefit aims to improve the living conditions of these families. The value of the subsidy is calculated by calculating the difference between the target level (the square root of the number of family members x RO115) and the total family income, provided that the family includes the husband, wife, and non-working children up to the age of 26, non-working daughters who have not reached the age of 40 if they are unmarried or divorced and do not have children. The fostered children are considered as sons in the formation of the family. The family rule includes some categories that will be detailed in the executive regulations of the Social Protection Law.
