Algiers - At least 34 people were killed Wednesday in an accident involving a passenger bus near Tamanrasset in Algeria's south, the country's civil defence agency said.

The head-on collision between the bus and a commercial vehicle caused a fire and left at least 14 others injured, the agency said as rescue operations were ongoing.
