In a key meeting held on Monday morning, Najeeb bin al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, engaged with a technical delegation from the National Employment Program (NEP). The purpose of the gathering was to devise sustainable practical solutions to enhance the qualifications and training of job seekers, as well as create employment opportunities across all sectors within the governorate. The discussion further underscored the importance of bolstering commercial activities, development projects, small and medium-sized enterprises, self-employed individuals, and business leaders.

The technical delegation delivered a presentation, showcasing the program's notable projects, initiatives, and programs. Key highlights included comprehensive value chain analyses within major sectors, amplifying the contribution of local added value, developing a robust self-employment support package, establishing synergies between education and the labour market, localization efforts, management of labour market data, provision of vocational guidance services, efficient governance of economic sectors, and nurturing business prospects. The presentation also unveiled key demographic data, population distribution rates, and the governorate's most vital sectors for development, economics, and tourism.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a cooperation program between the governorate and the National Employment Program. The pact was jointly endorsed by Najeeb bin Ali Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, and Eng Azhar bin Ahmed al Kindi, Technical Director of the Program.

The initiative underlines the need for rigorous training and qualification of local talent from Al-Dhahirah, with a keen focus on securing employment opportunities within the developmental, economic, tourism, agricultural, food, logistical, and technical sectors. Additionally, the program will conduct scientific studies tailored to the economic opportunities specific to Al Dhahirah Governorate.

Special emphasis will be placed on value chain studies across various economic sectors, nurturing the growing tourism and heritage industry, organizing specialized training courses for local residents in tourism guidance, and implementing initiatives that elevate technical competencies through targeted technology-focused camps.

In a statement, Al Kindi said the visit was part of a series of field tours aimed at empowering local administrations across governorates. The visit aims to strengthen their capabilities in rehabilitation, training, and job placement, thereby enriching the lives of the local populace. By empowering Omani youth to directly engage in the labour market and encouraging them to establish their own enterprises, the program actively harnesses the potential of the self-employment initiative.
