Madrid: Real Madrid have signed Turkish teenager Arda Güler on a six-year contract, naming him "one of the young prospects in world football."
Midfielder Güler, 18, arrives at the record Champions League winners from Fenerbahce after winning the Turkish Cup and being named man-of-the-match in the final against Basaksehir.
He has also won four Turkiye caps and is the youngest player to score for the national team.
Güler had a contract until 2025 at the Istanbul club which reportedly included a €17.5 million ($19 million) release clause.
Other clubs including Spanish champions Barcelona were also said to have been interested in him, and reports said that Real even paid €20 million for him.
"Your achievements will always be our pride. We wish you good fortune and continued success," Fenerbahce said in a farewell statement.
