Sultan Haitham City will include 19 integrated neighborhoods complete with all services: Housing minister

Muscat: Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning said in press conference held on Tuesday that the Sultan Haitham City targets those eligible to the government’s residential land granting system. It also opens the door for non-Omanis’ ownership. Five per cent of the residential units within the Sultan Haitham City will be allocated to the housing assistance programme.


The minister noted that there are 9 locations for real estate development as part of the integrated quarters and neighbourhood layouts.


Dr Al Shueili said that the ministry rolled out 6 investment sites for Surooh layouts in a number of governorates. The big cities in Muscat, Nizwa, Salalah and Suhar will be part of the strategic urban projects that focus on a diverse economic base.


Dr Al Shueili noted that the Sultan Haitham City focuses on 12 international standards namely quality of life and luxury of living from affordability and integrated facilities to modern lifestyle and sustainable systems.


The Sultan Haitham City will include 19 integrated neighborhoods complete with all services including health care, education, commercial facilities, among others.


Dr Al Shueili pointed out that the Sultan Haitham City will be connected via Muscat Expressway and Sultan Qaboos Road with 23 access points in addition to the expansion of the two current main access points from the Sultan Qaboos Road. The first phase includes various integrated facilities with 6,743 housing units, a private hospital, a fuel filling station, 4 school sites, 19 land plots earmarked to offices, among other facilities. The second phase (2028-2035) will occupy an area of 2.6 million square metres and will accommodate over 23,000 people. This phase includes 4,200 housing units and a building area of about 1.4 million square metres. The third phase of the Sultan Haitham City (2033-2040) will be implemented on an area of 2.3 million square metres. It will contain 3,500 housing units with the capacity to accommodate over 21,000 people. The fourth phase of the Sultan Haitham City will be constructed on an approximate area of 5.5 million square metres with a capacity to accommodate more than 26,000 people in 4,500 housing units.
