MUSCAT: SOHAR Port and Freezone has signed an agreement with Allied Ondock Container Services LLC, part of the Singapore-based Allied Container Group, to provide container depot services to shipping lines calling to the port, through advanced logistics solutions, and from a digital-based environment. The agreement’s signing ceremony was attended by Emile Hoogsteden, Chief Executive Officer of SOHAR Port and Freezone, Lim Kian Chin, Owner of Allied Container Group Singapore and Mana Almana Alfalasi, Chairman of Allied Ondock Container Services UAE and Oman.

Lim Kian Chin, Owner of Allied Ondock Container Services Group said, “We offer modern facilities and equipment coupled with an experienced and skilled workforce. The container depot or terminal at SOHAR will cover an area of 3 hectares. It will feature the latest heavy lift machines and stackers to handle empty and laden containers, while it is also in keeping with environmental requirements.”

Emile Hoogsteden, Chief Executive Officer of SOHAR Port and Freezone, said, “This agreement provides an important addition to our services and further strengthens SOHAR’s position as a

fully integrated and competitive logistics hub. We have more than 20 shipping lines calling Sohar Port on a weekly basis and there is an advantage to having such an experienced on-port dock operator to facilitate the transfer of containers.”

He added, “SOHAR is also committed to innovation throughout the complex, touching on every aspect of operations and future proofing SOHAR Port and Freezone in an ever-changing business environment.”

Established in 1975, Allied Container Group, the mother company of Allied Ondock Container Services, has quickly developed a global reputation as a secure, high-quality facility and expanded its range of services to an increasing number of the port’s shipping lines. The company provides services to renowned shipping line partners, including Maersk Line, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Cosco Shipping, OOCL, and many more international and regional shipping lines.
