MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, said the winning by the Sultanate of Oman of many awards at the Arab Radio and Television Festival in Tunisia is proof of the high level and rich content of Omani media and its development.
In a statement to ONA, the minister said that these awards include radio podcasts category, children’s programmes, youth initiatives, music and songs and environmental and interactive programmes. This is in addition to the television categories of films, documentaries, talk shows, nature reserves and news and programmes exchange.
The minister pointed out that this achievement in various fields of media reflects the progress witnessed by the radio and television production in particular and the media in general in the Sultanate of Oman. It is an international testimony to the tireless efforts of various public and private media institutions and the culmination of efforts made by media professionals who strive to produce attractive and useful content to the public within the Sultanate of Oman or at the Arab level. It also reflects the dedication of the Omani media in highlighting the ancient national heritage, the richness of the Omani society and the level of progress the country has witnessed in various fields.
The minister affirmed the Ministry of Information’s commitment to continue developing the media industry in Oman through the preparation and implementation of comprehensive plans that boost creativity and innovation, and enhance the media culture and skills of talented media professionals through training and qualification in various fields of media. He added that products obtainment of such prestigious awards motivate us to reach higher levels of production and to adopt the latest technologies to raise the quality of our media production in order to achieve the noble messages of the Omani media and to enhance the Omani media outreach at the Arab level.
The minister extended his congratulations to all media professionals, radio and television channels, and specialised media companies that won the awards of the Arab Radio and Television Festival. — ONA
