Al Batinah: As summer is here, parents and educators are recognising the importance of robotics training workshops for children. These workshops offer outstanding benefits, providing children with valuable advanced skills in an exciting and educational summer experience. STEM education, creativity and collaboration are the main parts in summer robotics programmes.

Children not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also have the opportunity to apply it practically by building and programming robots in a simplified way. By engaging children in these workshops, young participants develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while deepening their understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts.

As technology rapidly loads, a strong foundation in STEM fields become increasingly crucial. Robotics workshops introduce children to engineering principles, programming basics and mechanics from an early age. When children participate, they cultivate an interest in STEM subjects and provide them with a competitive edge in the future job market.

The Children’s Museum which is located in Muscat launched its summer programme for the year 2023, including a number of activities aimed at developing children’s skills and talents in various cultural, sports, scientific, technical and environmental fields.

A programme titled (Robotics Future) took place at Sohar Sports Complex in Al Batinah North Governorate. The programme targeted 25 participants and aims to building up advanced technological skills to prepare them to interact and confront the rapid technological and scientific challenges.

Salwa al Rashidiyah, Acting Director of the Museum, said that the programme targets children around the country from the ages 4 to 16 to meet the needs and aspirations of children in this ages. "One of our goals during this year is to conduct a specified innovative programme starting from June until August 9. It aims to create a modern, balanced generation with multiple skills and capabilities. The programme contributes to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the cultural strategy," she said.

The summer programme will emphasise the sustainable development, environment, scientific creativity, Omani culture and arts, developing the skills of the buds, trade and economy, science and safety, hobbies and professions, and engineering.

Nowadays, robotics training workshops for children has become not just an enjoyable summer activity but a valuable investment in their future. Such efforts conducted by such institutions like Children Museum is unique and very popular among parents and children. These workshops offer hands-on learning experiences, promote STEM education, foster creativity and innovation, develop collaboration and teamwork skills, prepare them for the future workforce, boost confidence and self-esteem, and demonstrate real-world applications.
