Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, has embarked on a project for constructing tunnels along Al Batinah Expressway in North and South Al Batinah governorates.
Aimed to ease traffic on the road and reduce the distance, the project involves five tunnels for traffic in Al Maladda in the Wilayat of Musannah, Al Khabba, Al Subaikhai and Dhayan in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq and Al Braik in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura.
Construction work of Al Braik tunnel has already begun as well as preparation of road diversions on Al Khabba and Al Subaikhi roads in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq. The tunnels measure 4 metre while Al Maladda tunnel will have two lanes on both directions each measures 5.5 metres in height and 10.5 metres in width.—ONA
