Oman recruits nearly 5,000 female teachers in 2023

Muscat: The Ministry of Education (MoE) on Tuesday announced the candidates shortlisted for the teachers' positions in all disciplines, who have successfully passed the recruitment test held between March 16 and 18, 2023.


At the same time, MOE said that 87 percent of the 5,693 new appointments made this year, 4,953 are females and 740 are males.


Compared with the number of teachers hired over the past few years, 5,693 teachers have been recruited for 2023/2024 compared to 1,689 in 2020/2021.


A total of 2,021 women were appointed in the job title ‘first field teacher’ in 2023, 790 ‘second field teachers,’ 515 English teachers, 332 mathematics teachers, and 314 Arabic teachers.


Only 12 applicants were appointed as teachers of Arabic learning difficulties, according to MoE.


The governorates-based figures of 2023 show that more appointments have taken place in the governorate of Dhofar with (1,481) appointees, followed by Al Dakhiliyah (1,314), Muscat (956), Al Wusta (510), North al Sharqiya (451), South al Batinah (364), North al Batinah (202), South al Sharqiya (188), Musandam (94), Al Dahirah (92), and Al Buraimi governorate with (41).
