Cyclone Biparjoy: Isolated rains expected in parts of Oman

Muscat: Cyclone Biparjoy has been downgraded to Category 1 and is situated in the north of the Arabian Sea it lay centered at latitude 20.8 N and longitude 67.0 E.


The center of the cyclone is 770 km away from the Sultanate of Oman and moves northwards to the Indian and Pakistan coasts, and there is no direct impact on the Sultanate of Oman.


It is likely to make landfall on June 15 along the coastal areas of India (Gujarat) and Pakistan (Karachi).


Indirect impact on Oman:


Medium and high clouds advection over parts of the Sultanate of Oman's Governorates with a chance of isolated rain during the next 3 days.


Continues caution, maximum wave height may reach 3 to 6 meters along South al Sharqiya Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, with a chance of seawater inundation to the low-level areas.


Also moderate to rough sea conditions along the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman with maximum wave height of 2-4 meters.
