MUSCAT: The current OPBL Basketball Division B Champions, Dominos Pizza/Elevate maintained their steady climb
atop their division standings by defeating, Restaurant Author’s Cuisine (RAC) Team, with a final score of
109-86 in last week’s OPBL Basketball Summer League, organised by OPBL and Alasm New LLC.
The Dominos Pizza Team, dominated RAC defensively and cruised to a 23-point win, they were led by a balanced scoring attack led by top-scorer and player of the game, Joshua Alcarde who finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and a whopping 11 steals. He was ably supported by the core team members, Austin Parole, Mark Israel, Karl Lorion, Ronnie Hernando, Drey Gobris, Dave Fermin, Kenneth Katimbang, Garner Lazo and the rest of the team members, Benjie Oliveros, Danilo Mamaril, Keith Labrador, Noel Sarmiento, Jaycer Saldana, Andrew Tibayan and Karl Padlan.
RAC Team were paced by their main men, Jay Buan, Nards Gervacio, PJ Datalio, Otit Tipan, Harold Hilario and Roxyd Zamudio who battled fiercely but could not sustain their brilliant play.
The talent and deep bench of Dominos came into play and was the deciding factor in delivering the third win for Dominos Team who are now sporting a 3-1 record.
Dominos will continue their steep climb this week and try to face a determined Vanguard Team in the coming weekend battle where they hope to continue their drive to repeat as champions once again.
In other games of Division B, Dr Joseph B Cuarteros’ Team Cuarteros won over Dahabi 87-76 while in Division A action, OCTAL drubbed Mediacom 95-85 and Little Manila Shoppe defeated El Supreme 83-73.
The tournament is organised by OPBL under the leadership of Alain and Ruby Garcia and sponsored by Alasm New LLC headed by Hussein al Rasbi.
The games are held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at the Oman Club in Al Khuwair, all basketball enthusiasts and supporters are welcome to watch and enjoy the games.
