Muscat: Oman Perfume Show 2023 has perfumes from the Arab world, Asia and the GCC, with a large number of participants from the Sultanate of Oman. The show, which opened at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 31, will conclude today (Sunday).

Among the varieties, ‘oud’ dominates the scene of scent, while frankincense is making its presence felt with its use in incense as well as in perfumes.

According to the organiser, Oman Events, the third edition of Oman Perfume Show has brought in up to 70 local, regional and international representatives from the finest perfume houses, fragrance brands and frankincense suppliers.

The event also features new product launches and opportunities for attendees to win gifts.

A fascinating exhibit is the underwater ‘oud’. It looks like a piece of ordinary wood but can cost about RO 45 for one tola (14 grammes). “So one kg of it will cost about RO 2,500,” said an exhibitor. The ‘underwater oud’ is used for special occasions like Eid, weddings and other celebrations. There is normal oud, and the price of this oud is five rials for one tola, said Ahmed from Oud Al Anoud.

About its use, he said, “We can have this for daily use.” Some best qualities of ‘oud’ are available the exhibition from Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India.
