

MUSCAT: The production of refineries and petroleum industries in Oman increased by 30.8 per cent until the end of April 2023. Liquefied petroleum gas and paraxylene products led to the rise in exports, recording an increase of 2,277.8 per cent and 621.3 per cent, respectively, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Sultanate of Oman’s exports of motor fuel M91 increased by 230.7 per cent, recording 1,202,100 barrels, while exports of M95 fuel until the end of April 2023 reached to about 201,600 barrels, a decrease of 87.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2022.
The exports of gas oil (diesel) rise to 6,743,100 barrels, up by 84.2 per cent. Jet fuel exports increased to 2,101,300 barrels, up by 89.8 per cent, while exports of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 292,700 barrels.
Paraxylene exports reached 158,600 metric tonnes, while gasoline exports increased by 363.2 per cent, recording 51,400 metric tonnes. Polypropylene exports increased by 41.5 per cent, recording 79,300 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile, the statistics indicated an increase in the production of M91 by 56.1 per cent, to 5,888,800 barrels, while its sales amounted to 4, 596,300 barrels. On the other hand, production of M95 decreased by 20.5 per cent to 3,730,800 barrels, hence its sales also decreased to 3,804,600 barrels.
The production of gas oil (diesel) increased by 33.9 per cent, recording 11,351,500 barrels, and its sales recorded 4,531,400 barrels. Jet fuel production also increased by 76.1 per cent, recording 3,485,100 barrels, with sales of 1,311,600 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas increased by 47.4 per cent, to reach 2,676,200 barrels.
With regard to petrochemicals, gasoline production increased by 289.3 per cent, recording 46,400 metric tonnes, while paraxylene production reached 155,300 metric tonnes, an increase of 829.1 per cent. Polypropylene production increased by 27.2 per cent, recording 87,900 metric tonnes. — ONA
