MUSCAT: The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has announced the completion of a project to restructure the distribution and supply companies in the electricity sector, which resulted in the merger of the electricity distribution and supply companies of the Nama Group into two companies: Nama Electricity Distribution and Nama Supply.

The restructuring is in line with government directives to enhance the overall efficiency of the sector, reduce operational costs and optimize performance.

While the new Nama Electricity Distribution entity will focus on advanced metering, low-voltage networks, transformers and building connections, Nama Supply will oversee billing and collection operations.

The restructuring is expected to improve the overall performance of electricity companies and provide timely services to customers through the Unified Services Center for Nama Group, which is an integrated service window for electricity and water under one umbrella for all subscribers. — ONA
