MUSCAT: The West Asian Electronic Football Championship draw took place on Saturday at the headquarters of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) in Jordan. The highly anticipated championship, hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is scheduled to be held on June 1 and 2.

The draw determined the composition of the tournament's two groups, with a total of six participating teams. Group One consists of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Palestine, while Group Two includes Oman, Kuwait and Lebanon.

In accordance with the latest international classification, the participating teams were placed into three levels. The first level includes Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the second features Oman and Qatar and the third comprises Lebanon and Palestine.

The tournament aligns with the approved Fifa days for electronic football. Matches will be played in a 2v2 format on the PlayStation platform, with four players representing each team.

The group stage, semifinals and final rounds will follow a home-and-away system to ensure fairness and provide ample playing opportunities for all teams. This format guarantees that each team competes in multiple matches, upholding the principle of justice throughout the championship.

In the third edition, held in Kuwait in May 2022, the Saudi team showcased their dominance by clinching the title. The Qatari team secured the runner-up position, followed by the Kuwaiti team in third place, and the Lebanese team in fourth place, according to the overall standings.

The West Asian Electronic Football Championship promises an exhilarating competition among the region's top teams.
